Ms Claire McArthur

I am a Clinical Psychologist who has previously worked with adolescents and adults in both inpatient and community settings, across both public and private sectors. I have developed a passion for working with adolescents (16+) and young adults, voice hearing, psychosis, emotional dysregulation, and trauma. I also have a keen interest in working with individuals who may be recovering from a psychotic episode or experiencing ongoing symptoms. I am passionate about helping people who may be feeling stuck, lost, or unsure how to get their life back on track following an episode, or any other significant life event. I also see people with a wide range of issues including depressive disorders, anxiety disorders, personality disorders, complex trauma, bipolar, psychotic illnesses, relationship issues and grief/loss.

My therapeutic approach is tailored to the individual and is influenced by Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Schema Therapy and Compassion-based Therapy. I emphasise attachment styles in my therapeutic work and firmly believe that the therapeutic relationship is the most important part of therapy. Therefore, I will do my best to ensure that you feel comfortable in the therapy room.

I have a calm, relaxed, down-to-earth approach and I aim to provide a comfortable, safe space for people to express themselves, and explore what may be bothering them. I also believe in the importance of humour, when appropriate, during sessions.

I offer low cost fees for those with a Health Care Card.
